The winter pep rally is this Friday, Feb. 14 in the fieldhouse after 7th hour.
The rally will include a parade of winter sports teams, Singing Valentines performances, a pep band and a student vs. staff dodgeball game at the end. Student MCs (Masters of Ceremonies) will lead most of these events.
Choir teacher Luke Hrovat-Staedter has helped with many pep rallies in the past, and said that what sets this rally apart from the rest is its connection to Singing Valentines. Instead of the typical purple and gold, he said he expects to see a sea of pink and red in the audience.
“(Pep rallies) are a fun way to build school spirit. I know they can be a little exciting and loud, but, you know, I think the pep rallies are a really fun way to just build the community and see people from around East,” Hrovat-Staedter said.
As a participant in the dodgeball game, Hrovat-Staedter said it is the part he is most excited for.
“I’m looking forward to playing… I want to hit some people with some dodgeballs. It’ll be a great way to release the exciting, stressful day that is Singing Valentines,” Hrovat-Staedter said.
