East students will compete in various technical and leadership challenges April 1-2 for the SkillsUSA State Competition at the Alliant Energy Center.
In late February, when official preparation had not yet begun, members were already discussing their competition areas. The group has since been training for the competition.
On Tues., Feb. 18, SkillsUSA members met to choose their events. They’ll be sending two teams to compete in the Team Engineering Technology Design challenge, where teams of three design a machine to solve a given problem.
“I want to have fun. I am not aiming for a place, but I think It would be nice if we place well in the competition,” said senior Molly Lenus, president of SkillsUSA.
