In 11th place, with a total score of 50, the Madison East and La Follette’s co-op swim team competed at Sectionals on Feb. 15 at Madison West High.
“Sectionals went well. Our team had many personal bests and we all had a good time,” sophomore Keegan Ranola said.
One of the challenges the swim team had to face was senior, captain Grant Haselow’s injured shoulder.
“He hurt himself somehow and we needed him to perform the best he could at his last high school meet,” Ranola said.
Haselow, junior Westley Ehresman, sophomores Ranola and Owen Craig, and freshmen Cyan Furman and Logan Ehresman represent East’s half of the swim team. The group has been practicing since the start of December.
“I’ve trained really hard, and I feel like I’m ready to show off my skill during the Sectionals, and so are the others on my team,” said Haselow, who has been swimming competitively since the age of six. “I have learned how to find and overcome challenges throughout my high school swim career.”
