One of East’s newest charity groups is Crafting 4 a Cause, and the group does just that: selling crochet, painting, drawing, jewelry and more so they can donate the profits to charity.
The club has three charity categories they are interested in donating to: children’s hospitals like St. Jude and Shriners Hospital, homeless shelters like The Road Home and Felicia’s Donation Closet, and queer youth organizations like GLSEN and the Attic Youth Center.
The club meets every other Wednesday at lunch in teacher April van Buren’s room (1506). Crafting 4 a Cause is planning on having five craft sales, with the first one at lunch on Oct. 8 by the ATM in the mall.
“It’s a way for students to get more involved in the community, and use art as a tool and a gateway to help kind of give back to community and make the world like a better place,” said sophomore Jasper Keitt-Pride, who is co-president of the club.
